Lebanese Community holds National Prayers for Monday disaster victims

The Acting President of the Lebanese Community, Emad Khoury, said they were shocked by the unprecedented revelations of the Monday landslide and flooding whose death toll has continued to increase. He remarked that the first step to show solidarity in these trying times is to call on the intervention of the Almighty God. “We are praying to God to forgive the sins of those who died and to console the bereaved families. We are also asking Him to prevent our land from any foreseeing incident of such nature,” he said, adding that they are set to offer assistance to the bereaved families once the ongoing registration at different centres reaches climax.

The Lebanese Community has so far been the first private outfit to consider offering prayers for those who lost their lives in the Monday momentous disaster. Plans to follow up this effort with food and rescue items will get underway soon as members of the Community are holding talks on what immediate interventions to make prior to the prayers that were offered yesterday.

This is one among several national moves the Lebanese Community has made. They responded to the call of President Koroma on the Operation Clean Freetown scheme by donating working tools and food items worth millions of Leones.
