According to the President Leone Sisters United Monjama Korngor, Leone Sisters was established against the backdrop of empowering women in society. She mentioned that most Sierra Leonean women who relocate to the United States find it difficult to settle down, adding that the organization provide them that initial support. She further said that the organization advises members who face challenges in the United States. She said that the support and love shown to their members is what they intend to replicate to those who are deprived in society. The goal of the organization she said is to help humanity.                                                               Â
She said they have also been providing support to other areas of need in society such as support to the Fistula Foundation in Sierra Leone.
Receiving the donation, the proprietress of Mahanaim Orphanage, Melrose Kamara thanked Leone Sisters for the gesture, noting that the children feel loved. She informed her guests that Mahanaim Orphanage has been in operation for over ten years now caring for children with deformities. She lamented that they have not been receiving any major support from the government.
The donation targeted about four orphanages including, Mahanaim, Mercy, Alisco and Life Gate Children’s Home in the Western Rural District. Among the items donated included bags of rice, onions, gallons of oil and much more.
