Sierra Leone match against Lesotho in the Cameroon 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Freetown on the 13th November will be the first time the two countries are facing each other in an official match.

The Crocodiles of Lesotho have never qualified for the African Cup of Nations and they are currently ranked 138 while Sierra Leone has qualified twice in 1994 and 1996, but are yet to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.

As part of the Leone Stars preparations for the match ahead against Lesotho, the technical team has been engaging the boys on friendly matches with some clubs in the country. Two warm-up matches with the home-based national team have been played at the Kingtom Academy in Freetown. The first matches saw Leone Stars being held to a one all draw with East End Tigers Football Club and a one nil victory against second division side PS Zizo Foundation on the same day.

Assistant Coach II Amidu Karim told AYV that they are still working on the fitness of the boys which is why they are engaging them on friendly matches. He further said by the weekend they are travelling to Kono to battle with Diamond Stars and other teams.

However, sources close to the FA confirmed to this medium that the technical team is headed by Coach Sellas Tetteh and he has submitted a list of fifteen foreign-based players to be invited.
