Engaging hundreds of Sierra Leoneans and foreign nationals at a National Townhall held at the Freetown International Conference Center (Bintumani), President Dr. Julius Maada Bio called on Sierra Leoneans to uphold the peace of the nation.
President Bio said: “No nation can develop without peace, let’s don’t allow few idiots to disturb our peaceful nation”.
On X, the president wrote: “At the Townhall, I was very excited that I spoke from the heart in Krio, to Sierra Leoneans from all walks of life. During our fambul tok (family talk), I outlined the great progress we have made on our Big Five Agenda and throughout the previous five.
“We spoke about the premier pride of place and respectability that Sierra Leone holds in the international community in Africa and at the global United Nations. These frank conversations with citizens enrich our democracy and show our dedication to open and transparent government.
“This interaction also demonstrates that people and their well-being and livelihoods are at the centre of our policies. We will continue to engage our citizens as we work to Feed Salone and meet the bold and ambitious agenda we have set ourselves in transforming this land that we love”.
At Bintumani, President Bio spoke for 3 hours unfiltered to citizens of Sierra Leone. He answered their questions, calmly, thoroughly, and passionately. He covered climate, big five, peace and national cohesion, foreign affairs, census, constitutional review and women’s rights for 3 straight hours.
