Women are most crucial in every society and for them to be effective their health must be taken care of. Marie Stopes Sierra Leone has been in Sierra Leone for 33years, working to build a safe space for women; tackling Sexual Reproductive Health and Family Planning issues through outreach, clinics, social marketing and strengthening the public sector. In a bid to further push this commitment, Marie Stopes in collaboration with the government of Sierra Leone launched the Marie Tim Sierra Boat Bonthe and its adjoining island communities.

In his statement, the Deputy Mayor of Bonthe District Council having a health boat in Bonthe District will help their women as the maternal and mortality rates in Bonthe District are on the increase. Launching the Marie Tim Sierra Boat, Ambassador Foday Yumkella, who was Chief Launcher, thanked the Minister of Health and his team, and Marie Stopes Sierra Leone and its partners for this laudable stride in the health sector.

Marie StopesSierra Leone’s aim is to reach out to all the unreached areas so that no woman or girl will be left out in accessing quality maternal care. 3535 is the number anyone can reach Marie Stopes on all mobile networks to access the boat service.
