The Mayor said that was a pointer to a better height taking into consideration the fact that it is the biggest council.
The Council according to the Mayor is looking after 420 schools, 55 peripheral health units, (PHU’s), four hospitals, issues of social services, sports, youth, fire prevention and marine. The Mayor said “these are devolving functions, which show how big we are, yet we are second in this area”.
“Moneys allocated to those areas mentioned have always been intact, they’ve always been transferred intact”, he boasted.
The Mayor said the council will continue to strive for higher heights. He added that they have decided to bring on board the attitudinal and behavioural change secretariat, in order that they will oversee the period and be able to talk to the people to make the necessary change within the municipality and its environs.
