These ships are manned by a dedicated group of skilled volunteers hailing from diverse countries across the world. Their collective mission is to alleviate suffering and contribute to the well-being of humanity.

At an all-important event held at the Ministry of Health’s conference hall, Chief Executive Officer of Mercy Ships, Gert Van de Weerdhof said, over the next ten months, the ship will be offering essential surgical operations to over two thousand people in addition to medical training to local healthcare professionals.

The Mercy Ships’ chief thanked the Government of Sierra Leone for the invitation, noting that the mission’s success hinges on partnerships.

Welcoming the delegation from Mercy Ships, President Julius Maada Bio said 2,350 of the registered patients are considered “very critical” and will be prioritized for treatment.
