Milla Group donates water facilities to Grafton Community

The donation which is worth millions of Leones was handed over to relevant stakeholders and local authorities over the weekend at an impressive ceremony held at the Community Supply Center at Grafton.

The personnel Manager of Milla Group Lansana Koroma said the donation is part of the company’s contribution towards the socio economic development of the community.

He said during the Ebola period the company also donated items towards the fight against Ebola for the community.

He said after series of consultations with the Environmental Committee of the company and the Grafton Development Committee (GDC) it was agreed that the top most priority of the community is get access to safe pipe born water for drinking and domestic use.

So as a responsible company that is committed to the development of the communities they operate, Milla Group has donated 6000 litters of water tanks, 10 bags of cement, PVC pipes and its accessories for the installation and connection of water to homes.

The company also donated fifty plastic chairs to be utilized at the Grafton community office.

A cash of three million five hundred thousand Leones Le3, 500,000.00 was also donated to the Grafton Development Committee for the installation of the water facilities for community use within the shortest possible time.

The Environmental Consultant   for Milla Group Anthony Davies said the donated items are in pursuant of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulation for manufacturing companies operating in the country.

He called on the community people to embrace the company as their own, as they will provide employment opportunity for many of the trained and qualified youths within the area.

Councilor Sheik Ibrahim Conteh of ward 327 expressed profound thank and appreciation to Milla Group for the donation as it will go a long way in improving access to water for people living in the community where the company operates.

Representative of Tribal heads, women’s and youth leader also expressed gratitude to Milla Group for the donation and assured that they will provide security for the donated items and also for the company within the community.
