The Liberia Ambassador designate to Sierra Leone, Her Excellency Angie Kolie Nynemah Laverla Von Ballmoos, has presented copies of her Letters of Credence to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Musa Timothy Kabba.
Welcoming the new Ambassador in the conference room of the Ministry, Minister Kabba thanked His Excellency President Joseph Boakai of Liberia for according respect to His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio during their inauguration ceremony in Liberia.
The Foreign Affairs Minister underscored the longstanding diplomatic relations between Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia which led to the formation of the Mano River Union in 1975.
The Minister said that citizens of the Mano River Union see themselves as one people, and there is every need for a regional solidarity as it brings a win-win solution to regional conflicts and interests.
The Foreign Affairs Minister thanked the people of Liberia for conducting a peaceful election and the handing over of power from an incumbent to an opposition. This he said demonstrates respect for Liberians and the growth of democracy and good governance in the Mano River Union basin.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francess P. Alghali, assured Her Excellency Ambassador Anjie Ballmoos of the ministry’s unflinching support during her stay.
While responding, Ambassador Ballmoos thanked the Government of Sierra Leone for the existing bilateral relations and the continuous support between the two countries.
Ambassador Ballmoos said that the areas of priority of President Joseph Boakai which include youth empowerment, agriculture, tourism, technology and innovation also resonate with that of President Bio’s big 5 agenda.
