According to Bangura, the Ministry is aware of the problems surrounding different sporting disciplines, and so they believe there is need to guide them through this process.
“We want you to behave in the most sporting manner by holding your delegate conference in the most peaceful way thereby uniting each and every member within the association” he said.
Addressing the gathering the Deputy Minister of Sports, Mr. Ishmael Al-Sankoh Conteh said the ministry is charged with the responsibility to supervise the process and activities of sporting disciplines while drawing the attention of members to the 1961 Sport Councils Act, which mandated the ministry to act as a supervisory.
“We do not own the Sporting Associations as they belong to their members and all we do is to supervise and advise where necessary.
He encouraged all to behave well when the time comes to elect a new executive, adding that having a successful congress that is free and fair, free from intimidation will bring unity to the family.
