MURDER! -High Court To Decide

Prior to the committal, Magistrate Komba Kamanda disclosed that the first accused, Kennie Amadu Saffa was charged with the offence of conspiracy and murder whilst the second accused, Brima Nabie Kamara was charged with the offence of conspiracy, stating that the Prosecution has adduced sufficient and satisfactory evidence that necessitated the committal of the matter to the High Court for further trial.

Recapitulating the evidence adduced against the first accused, Magistrate Kamanda further disclosed that the First Prosecution Witness including other factual witnesses testified that, Kennie Amadu Saffa murdered the four-year old Sheriff Sulaiman Vakie and that, it was revealed that the first accused, Kennie Amadu Saffa surreptitiously highjacked the deceased while he was playing football in Ngewabu Village, dragged him into the nearby bush and murdered him.

According to him, the diseased was tied on a Coffee Tree, where he was murdered and his palms removed, adding that, the Second Prosecution Witness also testified that, the night before the incident, he overheard the accused persons planning the said action but that he never knew the accused persons were planning a capital crime, adding that he warned them to desist from such act.

Magistrate Kamanda went on to state that, the Fifth Prosecution Witness who is the deceased’s father further stated in his evidence that, he left his son, Sherriff Suleiman Vakie playing football and went for prayers, but that later he became shocked and completely devastated when his wife informed him that their son had gone missing and had been found dead with his palms and skin removed.

He concluded by stating that the government Consultant Pathologist, Dr. Simeon Owiss Koroma also testified that he discovered that the deceased, Sheriff Sulaiman Vakie’s palms were removed, his back and shoulder level body skin removed including his internal organs, thus attributing the cause of his death as one that is clearly and evidently related to ritual murder and unnatural.

The two accused persons , however pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them and promised to testify and produce witnesses in the High Court Proceedings in connection to their involvement in the alleged murder.
