Addressing participants at the workshop, Chairperson National Commission for Democracy, Abubakarr Kargbo said one of the key reasons for the workshop was to spread the message of non-violence through jingles, fliers and drama.
This according to him will minimize hate speeches before, during and after the elections in March 2018, adding that the effectiveness of communications would be effected when it reach recipients.
He said NCD’s aim is to preach peace messages and avoid hate speeches in all political gathering.
Representative from United Nations Development Programme, Chicka Charles urged the NCD to design the messages in a simple ways so that every Sierra Leonean will understand its contents.
He further stated that NCD has vital roles to play for peaceful and violence free elections, adding further that UNDP hope to see NCD collaborating with institutions that will help to promote peaceful and credible elections come 2018.
Participants described the workshop as a step in the right direction and also called on youth to end violence across the country.
