According to the spokesman for the protesters, the aggrieved workers were protesting for their two months backlog salaries and general welfare issues.
The General Manager of the SLRTC, Bockarie Lewis Kamara has confirmed that indeed the corporation was aware of the backlog issue of the new drivers but however stated that their issue will be addressed by the steering committee in charge of the new buses.
This strike action on the first day of school left school pupils stranded and endlessly waiting for the new yellow painted school buses that were supposed to start full operations.
