The National Grand Coalition (NGC), has completed its ‘Meet the People Tour’ in Bombali district. The tour is part of the party’s strategies to test its political strength in the district and its surroundings.
The Party’s Acting National Chairman and Leader, Jesmed Foday Mami Suma led the tour that engaged party members from Tonkolili, Karene, Kono, Koinadugu, Falaba and Bombali districts in Makeni city in a bid to get them prepared for the 2023 multi-tier elections.
According to the Acting National Chairman and Leader, the meet the people is to strategically prepare the membership for the elections and identify potential aspirants for Members of Parliament, Mayors, district chairpersons and councilors that are willing and ready to run for offices under the NGC ticket.
“We are here to engage our membership on election preparations and explained to them the required threshold for the Proportional Representation System and how they can get the required votes they need to be elected as Members of Parliament and Councilors”. Mr. Suma said.
Explaining, using figures on how the various aspirants can get the required numbers to be elected MP and the campaign message they should take home to their people, Mr. Suma emphasised that, their success lies on their recruitment strength.
He entreats all those wishing to vie for electable offices to massively engage in recruitment of members to the party, “as politics and wining lies on numbers and the majority being on your side”.
Speaking on the messages of the NGC party, Mr. Suma said there are three main focuses of the NGC party that must be spread far and wide. He said the first thing that the NGC seek is to have a United Nation.
“We cannot develop as a nation if we are not united. So, one of the major goals of our party is to unify this nation. Secondly, our aim is to ensure there is freedom, especially economic freedom, political freedom, freedom of speech and freedom to development. And we are on a mission to establish a nation that is just and there is equity for all.
“The NGC is on a mission to fight against all form of injustice. These are our pillars, and we are ready to build on them for a better nation.” Mr. Suma said.
He went further by saying that the NGC party has a lot of formulas and plans that will bring sustainable development to the country, among the many, while explaining how the area of agriculture and education can be addressed once and for all.
He called on members to be determined to achieve the set goals. He said, it is only the spirit of determination that can help you achieve your dreams. He commented on the alliance issue, emphasising that, the NGC or Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella is not joining the SLPP as many fake rumors have been saying, rather, it is only an alliance that will see the party maintains its independence and nothing more. He called on the membership and believe in the NGC party.
Chairman of the NGC Bombali District Executive, Henry Mansah Bangura said they are happy to have the acting Chairman and Leader in their midst and said; “we are happy for your timely message, and we in Bombali district will always stand with the NGC party.”
