To send out bogus and inaccurate information purporting that I.J Kabbah was Sierra Leone’s First Lady is a complete dishonesty with all intent and purpose to misinform and lie to Sierra Leoneans and non-Sierra Leoneans.
The release stated: “The former First Lady and SLPP Women’s Leader, Mrs. I.J Kabbah…”
At the material time of President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah’s Presidency, they were never married but alleged concubines or lovers. I.J Kabbah was not qualified to become Sierra Leone’s First Lady because she was not lawfully wedded as claimed. Assuming they got married without making it public, yet President Kabbah (RIP) did not encourage her to use the vacant First Lady’s office because she never met the requirement.
In essence, she did not perform any official function (both locally and internationally) as Sierra Leone’s First Lady. Let us for argument sake say they were co-habiting as enshrined in Section 6 of the Registration of Customary Marriage and Divorce Act of 2007, the age limit was also not favorable for I.J Kabbah to be qualified as First Lady.
It is therefore sacrosanct to state that Sierra Leone has never had I.J Kabbah as First Lady because a married woman is a man’s partner in marriage and the only married woman was Mrs. Patricia Kabbah (RIP). The Office of the First Lady is an esteemed office accepted and recognized with prescribed functions.
