This statement was made by the Leader and Chairman of the National Grand Coalition Dr. Dennis Bright during a press conference held at their party’s headquarters on Wilkinson Road in Freetown and was geared towards the insight of the party position.
According to Dr. Bright it is significant to note that majority of political parties including the two parties involved in the run-off have reported gross irregularities and malpractices in the conduct of the March 7 elections. He said it was on account of these irregularities that member of the APC acting in his individual capacity sought an injunction to enable among other things, a “forensic” audit on entire process.
He added that after the release of the first 25 percent of elections result, NGC released a press statement reporting a series of irregularities indentified in the voting process that would require a re-count across the country.
“Our party wasted no time in informing the Chief Electoral Commissioner/National Returning Officer of NEC its observations, concerns and objections” Dr. Bright said at the press briefing.
NGC according to Bright has since sent three additional letters to NEC outlining their request as mandated by law and also meet senior executives of the Commission.
“NGC stands out as the biggest victim of irregularities and malpractices that have marred the elections in the entire region” Bright said.
