Considering the problems girls face that reduce their opportunities of becoming meaningful citizens in society, CVCW wishes to draw the attention of parents and guardians to take responsibility in ensuring that their girl child are empowered and given the much-needed support to improve their lives and self-esteem.
Taking into consideration the increase in girl child prostitution, early marriage, rape, teenage pregnancy, school drop outs, girl child labour, sexual exploitation, child trafficking, are among the societal menace that are affecting the girl child in Sierra Leone that needs to be adequately addressed.
Consequently, Concern for Vulnerable Children strongly condemns all forms of child exploitation and is calling on government and the international community to provide policy guidelines that will monitor, regularly review, and implement policies to promote the human rights of the girl child in Sierra Leone and punish offenders.
