She furthered that there are lot of changes they can impact in the lives of the needy, emphasizing that it very important to have a first – hand assessment to know the present status of the hospital and how they can help.
“We need to give our widows might to those who need our help that is how we should operate as human beings.” Mercy Johnson pointed.
Presenting some of her findings she called on organizations to involve in effective sex education as a way of preventing teenage pregnancy, stating there are lots of teenage mothers in the hospital from what she has found out during her tour around then hospital.
“Sex education can curb the teenage pregnancy and the amount of babies that die as a result of lack of maternal care, safe sex is very important.” She emphasized.
She added that the youth needed to understand how to play safe and that the need for safe sex education is very evidence in the hospital. She reiterated that many of the babies that are in the building need private maternal care.
Upon completing her statement at the hospital Mercy Johnson said she is very much passionate about children, she call on meaningful Sierra Leoneans to support the hospital and the government, adding that the government has beautiful agenda of development noting that the government cannot do everything alone.
Head of department for the pediatrics at the Ola During Children’s Hospital, Dr. Nellie Bell stated that their key priority is human resources, confirming that the issue of human resources has been a huge challenge in the running of the hospital. She pointed that the hospital required good and quality doctors and nurses.
She maintained that the hospital is very much constrains with space and she called on the ministry of health to push forward with a project that can bring about the expansion of the hospital they are yearning for.
Mercy Johnson made a visit to the St. Joseph secondary school where she encouraged the pupils at the school to stay out of sex and embrace their study for the purpose of developing the country in the future.
