He stated that they receive 30 million Leones yearly as subvention from the Ministry of Education but that this is not enough as they spend up to about 120 million Leones yearly. He lamented however that the subvention from the government usually does not come in time, adding that since September last year they have not yet received a cent from the government.Â
He made this statement when addressing the Dingraie Family which donated 21 wheelchairs and beddings worth millions of Leones to support the disable children at the Freetown Cheshire Home and School at Cline Town in Freetown recently.
The donation according to a representative of the organization Olimatu Deen is a goodwill gesture to support the needy. She added that they have also been giving scholarships to deserving school children across the country.
She disclosed that the organization is based in Maryland, USA; established by Sierra Leoneans in the USA in 2003 to support the needy back home.
Responding, the Chairman Freetown Cheshire Home Management Committee, Dr. Abdulai Dumbuya commended the Dingraie Family for the donation, adding that the Home has produced lots of talented people ranging from doctors, pastor, and teachers among many more professionals.
He informed the guests that their current drive is to promote free quality education and have a conducive learning environment at the home. He used the opportunity to call on other humanitarian groups to emulate the good example of the Dingraie Family.
He maintained that they managed to rehabilitate the school compound the resources their raise and their strategic plan.
