No official notification from US on Sierra Leone deportees

 Ambassador at Large, Khadijatu Bassir made this statement to African Young Voices in response to a fox news content sighting Sierra Leone as one of the four countries enlisted to be dragging its feet to cooperate with the united state government to receive their nationals who have been deported.

 Countries like Sierra Leone, Guinea, Eritrea, and Cambodia stand the risk to face traveling restrictions to the United States for delaying to cooperate.

Speaking to AYV, the Ambassador at Large said as a government they were very much concern as forty Sierra Leoneans were previously deported , adding that as a government they were  not happy with what they had seen and heard on fox news.

She however added that the ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation had been in touch with the Sierra Leone Embassy in New York and had been told to comply with the United States on any of such related Immigrations matter.

 Ambassador Khadijatu Bassir further intimated this medium  that she was of the  view that the said news on the fox news could be a strategy to force countries to hastily comply with the United States on issues of pertaining to peoples in possession of Sierra Leonean passport that were deported.

For that reason, she said her ministry had instructed the New York Embassy to put in place verification measures of would be deportees.

When asked whether the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation had contacted the United States Embassy here in Freetown for clarifications on the claims that the Sierra Leone government was  dragging its feet to receive its nationals who were recently, but that  they had  not been able to get onto the Embassy staff.
