Addressing a roomful of procurement officers from a galaxy of MDAs at a meeting witnessed by the Fourth Estate and other invited guests; Mr. Swarray mentioned that before now, public procurement was at best confusing and at most chaotic with different procurement officers invoicing different prices for the same goods. He added that such a chaotic and confusing system is not viable and therefore not good for the economy and management of state resources.

He informed his audience that with the launch of the Price Norm 4th Quarter 2018, the manner in which procurement officers go about pricing goods for their respective ministry, department or agency would now have a semblance of conformity and parallelism.

He said producing price norms on a periodic abd regular basis is the first step in price regularization across entities.

“I encourage all of you procurement officers in your different domains to make extensive use of the Price Norm in your daily purchasing activities. Include it amongst your treasured procurement reference materials and see the mileage you will get out of it,” the Chief Executive, Ibrahim Brima Swarray maintained.

The Price Norm contains prices for goods such as stationery, office equipment, office furniture, sundry items, foodstuff, building materials, vehicles, vehicle spares, petroleum products, agro-chemicals, seeds, agricultural tools, agricultural equipment, medical products, industrial pipes, industrial electrical products, solar products, package mailing among other goods.

Other speakers at the auspicious event were the Financial Secretary Sahr Jusu, NPPA Board Chairman Mr. Bob Kandeh, among a couple of others. They made similar sentiments in support of the new Price Norm 4th Quarter 2018 and also prevailed on all procurement officials in the MDAs to consider this handbook as their ‘bible’ to guide them in procurement business.
