For a friendly and harmonious working relationship, the Ombudsman, Ahmed Israel Tejan Jah had paid a courtesy visit to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) William Fayia Sellu.
The visit according to the IGP, did not come as a surprise, noting that he was expecting it.
Awaiting to present the Ombudsman to the Executive Management Board (EMB), which is the highest decision making body of the SLP, in a more suitable and bigger meeting, IGP Sellu informed that the force is on a drive to launder it image, referencing the 2001 Disciplinary Regulations.
As an organisation, he said they are happy to have systems that checkmate what they do. He assured office of the Ombudsman, a good working relationship.
The Ombudsman, Lawyer Ahmed Israel Tejan Jah, discloses that people take cognisance of injustice only when they become victims, therefore he said his office exists to render administrative justice to workers in Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) including the Police.
He also called for a good working relationship with the police.
In another development, the Ombudsman also paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament, Dr. Chernor Abass Bundu at his Office at Parliament Building.
Briefing the Speaker, the Ombudsman stated that although the Speaker knows about the work of the Ombudsman, he is there to build a more cordial working relationship that will enable him to fulfill his mandate with the support of the Speaker.
He informed the Speaker of his Office instituting investigations into the redundancy of close to 100 staff members of Parliament. He stated that he will need the cooperation of all the parties involved to ensure that the process is fair, transparent and effective.
