The Pentecostal Fellowship of Sierra Leone last week donated food and non-food items to the fire victims at Susan’s Bay.
Some of the donated items include 100 bags of 25Kg imported rice for families of the most vulnerable children and aged, plates, spoon, palm oil and buckets.
The President of the Pentecostal Fellowship Sierra Leone, Bishop Akintayo Sam-Jolly said they don’t want to only focus on the spiritual aspect but to reach out to people at a time like this.
He went on to say the Churches have been involved in all disasters ranging from mudslides, flooding, ebola and Corona but as President Bio called on them to work as a body instead of individual churches that is why they are doing such donation.
Bishop Akintayo Sam-Jolly disclosed that he only took up office four months now but that did not stop them to do such donation.
He disclosed further that the Fellowship targeted 100 families because that is what they have afford for now as there are over one thousand household.
After Bishop Akintayo Sam-Jolly and team visited the scene, he described the situation as serious and wished people can be relocated from that environment as it will always be a potential disaster area.
He said such environment will always problematic because of the setting but the best option is to relocate people. He commended the setup of the disaster agency.
Receiving the items, the National Disaster Management Agency Director General Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Brima Sesay while thanking the Pentecostal Fellowship disclosed that Seven thousand and eighty three were affected; there is no small gift when it comes to disasters.
He explained about the process which paved the way for people to do their donation through the disasters agency and said this is the largest disaster.
He called on people to donate building materials as there are lots of food stuffs donations.
Victims commended the Pentecostal Fellowship for reaching out to them and praying or them at a time like that.
