Bidding farewell to the delegation of 8 at the organisation’s headquarters on Wilkinson Road in Freetown, the Founder of Pikin Bizness, Dr. Adonis A.M. Abboud said the issues of children suffering from health complications or born with strange illnesses have been a serious concern, most especially when there is no special and diagnostic medical centres in the country to cure those illnesses.
He said Pikin Bizness is a non-profiting making organization set up in 2001 with the purpose of helping vulnerable children with hole in the heart and other illnesses in partnership.
The 4 children departing the shores of Sierra Leone tomorrow Friday 8th February with their mothers, Dr. Abboud went on, include 9 months old Aminata Kargbo who is suffering from hole in the heart, 3 years old Ansumana Samura, 5 years old Abibatu Kamara and Amza Barrie suffering from other ailments.
The beauty of this operation according to him, is that once the surgeries are done the patients will be taking into intensive care and will wake-up after an hour.
He recounted that Pikin Bizness started sending sick children for medical attention abroad in 2005, but that this will be the largest number of children ever sent per batch.
“We really thank God for the opportunity to partner with Chain of Hope, Royal college of Pediatric and Child Health and La Chain de L’espoir” Dr. Abboud said; adding that for one patient to undergo such a medical operation overseas, the minimum cost is four hundred million leones.
Bintu Lassayo, mother of one of the patients, Aminata Kargbo, commends Pikin Bizness and partners for their timely intervention to save the lives of their children. She said without the support of the organizations none of them would have afforded the cost for overseas medication.
She said her daughter has been getting sleepless nights as a result of her health condition and prayed that the operations went on successfully for all four children.
