However, according to the SLP Spokesman, Superintendent Ibrahim Samura, the SLP is doing all it can to investigate alleged election malpractice, 200 of which he says they are currently under investigation.

The SLP Spokesman also asked for the NEC Executive Secretary to be released to them for questioning, which the NEC says it will do. The SLP Spokesman did not specify who lodged the complaint about alleged electoral fraud.

As all of this is going on, Sierra Leone is gearing up for a second election after failing to conclusively elect a new president.

Julius Maada Bio will face off against Samura Kamara, outgoing President Ernest Bai Koroma’s successor.

In the first round of the elections that took place on 7th March, 2018, Bio, of the opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party, won 43.3% of the vote, while Dr. Samura took 42.7%.
