Registration and Compliance Manager, Steven Murray, told the ceremony, which happened at their head office at British Council on AJ Momoh Street in Freetown, that the essence of the certification was to establish that there had been proficiency in the petroleum industry, adding that the sector had gone through a marathon of processes since the enactment of the statutory instrument that governing it. Â
He further stated that there had been several achievements ranging from the level of compliance of operators to the improvement made by the agency through continual compliance process by stakeholders in the petroleum industry.
Board Executive Chairman, Dan Mason, said tremendous progress had been made in the industry, citing the transition from a unit to the current agency and the rolling out of registration certificates and licences to the operators in the petroleum sector. He said that was a laudable achievement.
Operators  who received  certificates and licences including operators in different aspects such as installation, import and export, registration and trainers, independent surveyors and dealers, among others.
Some of these operators were Amid Trading, SGS Guinea, PSL limited Gas plant, Leonco Oil Company, Petrol Leone Sierra Leone Limited.
According to the agency there were 255 retail outlets at the moment in the country. They stressed that only 76 were fully registered and had paid for their licences, while other applications were currently being processed.
