We also asked that the girls that suffered through ebola should not be forgotten and the group of children we are thinking of are those pregnant girls”.

Thorning- Schmidt stated that a lot of girls are pregnant in Sierra Leone a lot of children get pregnant they are also children and “we need to do everything we can as a global community to make sure that these girls have a future. We are advocating that they go to school and not only that, but also they are allowed to take their exams when they have been to school.”
She added that “I have put this message to decision makers in the country because we believe that these girls should get a chance to take care of themselves and also take care of the babies they are expecting. This is what we have been asking the government for these girls” the CEO said.

Maintaining that another issue of concern is the issue of child protection all around as it is an issue that Save the Children has always worked with as “we believe that children are individual in their own right, they have rights to live in a protected way, not to be victims of abuse and generally to have a safe childhood. This is what we have been advocating about and we hope government will take this into consideration”.
The Save the Children CEO disclosed further that the Free Health Care was another issue they discussed since “as we believe that access to health care is part of the future of Sierra Leone and we are not going to tell government what to do but we are going to give examples about how free health help mothers and children to survive, if people have access to quality health care. Sierra Leone is a beautiful country with great potential but there is still a lot to do for the children, and you can count on Save the Children to be here and do all they can to work in partnership with the government for the children of Sierra Leone” she maintained.
