President Bio Arrives in Washington to Speak at the U.S. – Africa Leadership Forum Today

The President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio who is in the United States of America will be speaking today at the United States–Africa Leadership Summit, 2022 convened by President Joe Biden of the United States of America.

President Bio who is amongst the almost 50 African Leaders invited by President Biden arrived yesterday at the Joint Base Andrews, Maryland with his wife, First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, and other members of his delegation including the his delegation including the Presidential Spokesman Alhaji Alpha Kanu

President Bio is amongst the three African Leaders who have been invited by the U.S. Department of State to speak at the African and Diaspora Youth Forum with the Theme: ‘Amplifying Voices: Building Partnerships that Last,’ at the Museum of African American History and Culture.

As outlined in president Biden’s U.S.-Africa Strategy towards Sub-Saharan Africa, the African and Diaspora Young Leaders Forum will elevate the U.S. governments diaspora engagement to strengthen the dialogue between U.S. officials and the diaspora in the United States and provide a platform for young African and Diaspora leaders to fashion innovative solutions to pressing challenges.

The forum which will feature three breakout sessions on higher education, the creative industries, and environmental equity will have President Bio alongside President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana and President George Weah of Liberia as speakers while the U.S. Vice President, Kamala Harris will give the closing remarks.
