President Koroma consoles flood victims

One of the survivors, Ali Kamara told the president and his entourage that they lost all their belongings and how they mysteriously found themselves in a building that saved more than thirty people that were trapped by the mudslide.

The president and his team toured the disaster affected places and gave audience to victims who were complaining about bridges leading to their communities that were destroyed by the tragedy.

The Mayor of Freetown, Franklyn Bode Gibson informed the victims that there are plans ongoing to evacuate them from the affected communities to community centres, schools and other available facilities as temporary accommodation.

Franklyn Bode Gibson confirmed that they were poised to clear all structures along the water ways in other to save people from such disaster in the future.

 “We still have some schools around the affected areas where the victims can stay temporary, until a permanent evacuation arrangement was finalized,’ Bode Gibson asserted.

Stakeholders in the Lumley community including the councilors, members of parliament and chiefs applauded the youths of those affected communities for rescuing and actively engaged in the recovery of dead bodies.
