President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists, (SLAJ), Ahmed Nasralla aka De Monk yesterday 16th August, 2021 clocked two full years since he was elected President in 2019 after defeating his counterpart Mustapha Sesay with a landslide victory.
Reminiscing on numerous successes his leadership has recorded in just 2 years in office, which include winning the fight for the abolition of Part 5 of the Public Order Act among others, President Monk said: “I received the mantle of leadership of SLAJ from outgoing President Kelvin Xander Lewis at a well-attended handing over ceremony held at the British Council Hall, Tower Hill, Freetown. Two years on it has been a wonderful experience serving my colleagues, and interacting with leaders of other institutions, the international community, and the Government of Sierra Leone in pushing for media freedoms and development and deepening our democracy”.
