Leone – Liberia football encounter on Sunday September 8, 2019, has yesterday Thursday 17th October 2019 present its findings and proffered recommendations to the Minister of Information and Communications at the Ministry’s Conference Room.
Chair of the Committee, Doris Sonsiama ESQ recommended that government dismiss the alleged perpetrators from the Joint Presidential Guard Force with immediate effect and that appropriate disciplinary action be taken against them.
Responding Minister of Information and Communication Mohamed Rado Swaray said the non-interference of the government into the investigation process signifies President Julius Maada Bio’s commitment to uphold the rights, freedom and dignity of every citizen.
He said President Bio is very media friendly and committed to media freedom and rights, adding that the government will study the reports and take the recommendations in good faith.
It could be recalled that in a Press Release dated 9th September 2019; Government, through the Ministry of Information and Communications instituted a broad-based and representative committee including SLAJ, WIMSAL, SLRU, SLBC, CARL-SL, HRCSL and SWASAL to further investigate allegations levied against security personnel of the Joint Presidential Guard Force during the Sierra Leone – Liberia football encounter and recommend appropriate measures.
