Authorities at the Male Correctional Service on Pademba Road in Freetown have revealed that the attack on the Service on Sunday, 26th November, 2023 caused the escape of 155 persons who were serving life imprisonment, 831 long-term convicts and 20 foreign nationals among others.
Among the 20 foreign nationals, 10 of them were convicted and the others were on remand or awaiting trials.
Also, 253 were on remand while 347 are categorised as being on trials for various crimes, hundreds of others were serving short-term jail sentences and two were under ‘safe custody’.
