The introduction of these monitors is to help reverse some the trend and to reinforce the structures to supervise and oversee the conduct of the country’s examination processes and it is hoped that their presence will refine the environment before, during and after the conduct of the examination.
The implementation of the free quality education (FQE) by the president does not just stop at accessing education but is to ensure that the education provided for children in the country is associated with the requisite quality that will ensure them the level of marketability and competitiveness they will realize once they go out to the wider world.
In her keynote address Emily Gogra said they stand at the forefront as a ministry to put a stop to examination malpractices, adding that incorporating the Exam Monitors is in order to strengthen the system.
“Integrity is the key word. President Bio has done his bit by bringing the free quality education programme,” Madam Gogra said, citing that parents, teachers and pupils are responsible for their failure in school because of poor home and school monitors.
Madam Gogra encouraged the pupils to study and work hard, adding that the country needs talented people and legends. She maintained that Sierra Leone after many years only received medals in 2001 for their performance in WASSCE.
National Program Coordinator Free Quality School Education Amara Sowa said the introduction of the Exam Monitors is an important step to reinforce the transparent and effective monitoring of public examinations.
