Mr. Kargbo recalled that if such fertility were in place in the country, people would stop flying out to Ghana for cancer cure or related treatment.
The nuclear expert further noted that in order to establish such facility in the country it first started with the establishment of their office by an act of Parliament, the Nuclear Safety Radiation Protection Authority 2012.
He said there were recommendations to strengthen the staff at the secretariat and to empower the personnel to any place where radiation related activities were going on, adding that as a result of five more technical staff had been recruited in 2009 to enhance the smooth operations of the secretariat.
Mr. Kargbo noted that the upgrading continued until 2012 when the secretariat became an authority through the very Act of 2012.
He said the authority had been mandated to protect the people and the environment from harmful effects of radiation, “through a process of notice-fiction, authorization, inspection, enforcement”.
He revealed that they were equally going to carry out a radiation metric survey to establish a map of Sierra Leone that would give advice to dwellers and others wanting to build structures.
