The Management of Ramsy Medical Laboratories has joined the world to celebrate the World Laboratories Day in Sierra Leone.
The celebration showcased the successes and challenges faced by the sector over the years.
The Chief Executive Officer of Ramsy Medical Laboratories, Professor Dr. Alpha Tejan Wurie said the Laboratory was established in 1987, gearing towards the enhancement of quality health and education system for excellent and sustainable service delivery.
He said its motive is to promote national health and education systems through strengthening management structures, promoting leadership and governance, quality, service delivery, operational research, monitoring and education, quality improvement for informed decision making contributing to the overall social and economic development in the country.
Dr. Wurie described the Laboratory as a private entities that incorporates diagnostic work, research and also serves as a commercial entity. He said he will partner with relevant people with regards to academic research work and will also join the Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Health and Sanitation to handle pandemics and epidemics.
He underscored the improvement of the Laboratory in terms of service delivery, highlighting few activities done therein. He listed DNA test and Molecular Biology as few amongst them.
Concluding Dr. Wurie assured expansion of the Laboratory informing of the officially opening of other branches in Bo. He said this will serve as just a Lab and scanning but no other services done in Headquarters.
