Amongst other allegations, the former Deputy Minister of Development is alleged to have swindled around $11 million Japanese aid money dished out by

development partners and JICA to fund various projects in the country.

The fraud is said to have been uncovered during the visit of President Julius Maada Bio to Japan where he met with the Vice- President of JICA, Koshikawa Kazuhiko in Yokohama on Wednesday.

According to Global Times sources, the former State House Chief of Staff is reported to have diverted the aid money to his personal account and allegedly later destroyed all the documents relating to the projects, report says.

In addition to the missing fund, the former Minister is also alleged to have inflated cost of contract awarded for the printing of NRA GST receipt books to a Ghanaian company in the early days of the Koroma regime.

Dr. Konteh was dismissed as head of the ECOWAS Commission’s civil society outfit in Abuja, Nigeria before the 2007 elections in Sierra Leone following corruption allegations.
