The ambassador was at the British Council yesterday to be joined by the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), Independent Radio Network (IRN), the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC), National Electoral Commission (NEC), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and other partners to officially launch the new 2018 Presidential Debate logo.

Immediately after the last words from the chairman of the event indicating the end of the launch, there was a mad rush from all corners of the hall with students running towards Ambassador Navo as he stepped off the high table to exit the hall.

The mad rush, which many people described yesterday as similar to that of manners from heaven, saw all the students joyfully mobbing the ambassador requesting to take photographs with him and some were even using their phones to do selfie.

The admirable happening in the hall lasted for about 15 minutes before the students would let the AYV President have his way out of the hall to attend to other more important events in his day’s agenda.

Even as he walked out of the hall to his jeep parked outside, there were more students chasing him for more photographs, shouting “ambassador… ambassador please give us selfie please sir…,” and the fine young successful entrepreneur could not stop giving the young men and women the opportunity to take photos with him.

It can be recalled that the popular Freetown-based businessman, socialite and philanthropist was recently honoured as Sierra Leone’s Youth Ambassador.

The honour was in the form of an award given to him in 2008, at the British Council Hall, Tower Hill, by the Young Leaders of Sierra Leone Network in commemoration of African Youth Day.

The young people say Navo has been very instrumental in empowering the country’s youth and has played an outstanding role towards the progress of the Network, adding that over the years, he has made his mark as a philanthropist by making donations to learning institutions to educate youths and has donated computers, televisions and other items to FBC, NU and MMCET among other institutions.
