SALWACO engages key stakeholders in Port Loko

Share

A cross section of the SALWACO Management in Port Loko recently engaged relevant key stakeholders in the district to discuss topical issues. Some of the authorities engaged include the Port Loko City Mayor, Deputy Mayor and the Local Unit Commander (LUC).

The thrust was to discuss issues that have been threatening the very existence of SALWACO in  Port Loko City. Such issues range from meter theft, water theft and water rate payment among others.

In a radio discussion programme, the SALWACO management communicated plans having to do with permanent disconnection of customers who have been disconnected for over 3-5 years, but are still illegally enjoying the service.

In facilitating strategic enforcement and implementation, the City Mayor, the LUC and the SALWACO leadership in Port Loko hang heads to discuss issues mentioned above. The discussion was fruitful and the Mayor and the LUC made a solemn promise to talk to the general public and pledge their full support in ensuring sustainable water supply to the people of the Port Loko Municipality.

It was agreed that an official letter will be written to the Regional Police Commander seeking for police support in executing permanent disconnections to  dormant customers who are not willing to reconnect to the system.
