legitimacy and representation both at the bilateral and multilateral levels, the erstwhile Director of the Policy, Planning and Research Unit, Mr. Sulay Manah Kpukumu is being assigned to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the new Head of Chancery. Mr Kpukumu who is effectively Minister Counsellor is now making his final arrangements to take up his assignment at his new post.
In a brief farewell ceremony jointly organized by the Policy, Planning and Research Unit and the Information Communication Technology Unit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mr. Sulay Manah Kpukumu was decorated and given a befitting farewell.
In his remarks, the Head of the IT Unit Mr. Abu Bakarr Barrie lavished praises on the new Head of Chancery and former Director of the PPRU Unit. He stressed that it goes without saying that with the caliber and experience of the well-groomed soft spoken diplomat, the Minister Counsellor, who has previously served in London and New York will no doubt promote the strategic interests of the Government in the international arena with respect to peace, security, stability and development drive of His Excellency the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma.
Mr. Barrie said that Mr. Kpukumu has been very instrumental in rolling out the Ministry Medium Term Strategic Plan (2014 – 2018) otherwise known as the Sierra Leone Foreign Service Transformation Strategy, which focuses on the effective execution of its mandate with clear vision, objectives and activities that are consistent with the overall objective of rebranding of the country as a destination for trade and investment.
In his remarks Mr. Sulay Manah Kpukumu thanked members of staff for the honor bestowed on him and assured them that he will continue to provide leadership and high quality advice on important foreign policy matters. He urge staff to continue to give their best to the ministry as they too have a role to play in rebranding the country.
Mr. Sulay Manah Kpukumu, a graduate from Fourah Bay College and the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), also holds a Master of Administrative Science in Diplomacy and International Relations from Fairleigh Dickinson University in US and a Post Graduate Certificate in Diplomatic Studies with a Distinction in French from University of Oxford (Corpus Christi College). The one time UNITAR Visiting Scholar at Colombia University Law School has also served as State Chief of Protocol in the Office of the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
