Security stakeholders from various security sectors across the country have engaged in a peaceful non-violent march to campaign against violence in and after the country’s electioneering process.

The peace march attracted members of the Family Support Unit, the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, the National Fire Force, the Office of National Security, and the President of the Sierra Leone Police Wives Association, Maltida Doris Sellu, who used the opportunity to appeal to every Sierra Leonean to remain peaceful and avoid violence.

The march which started at the Up Gun roundabout quickly gathered momentum as various police commanders including the Regional Commander Freetown-East ACP Dr. John Martin Senesie, the LUC of Harbour Division CSP Emmanuel S. Kpulun, CSP Jenevieve Tity Cowan, CSP Edina Silver, and several heads of departments joined in the non-violence campaign.

Passing through Kissy Road, Sanni Abacha, Lightfoot Boston, and finally George Street, peace messages were preached to the people along those routes. They advised everyone to stay away from violence and avoid listening to inciting social media messages that promote violence and chaos in the country.

Speaking on behalf of the Inspector General of Police at the Police Headquarters, the Deputy Inspector General of Police DIG Augustine Magnus Kallie thanked all for undertaking the peace march sensitisation and pleaded to all and sundry to always embrace peace and avoid every form of violence before, during and after the elections.
