Management of the Sierra Leone Brewery Limited has encouraged more people to go into Sorghum farming in the country.
Corporate Affairs Manager, Foday Daboh said Sierra Leone Brewery Limited is encouraging local farmers to invests in Sorghum which will enable the company to effectively operates for an uninterrupted process.
He said: “The Sierra Leone Brewery has the financial competence to import any of its raw materials for any of its products but we are encouraging Sierra Leonean farmers and all those who are interested in the agricultural sector to pay great attention into the produce of Sorghums”.
He outlined some of the benefits and privileges Sorghum farmers stand to benefit from Sierra Leone Brewery, including cash advances and motorbikes loans, special packages for farmers who met their various targets in production.
“The Sierra Leone Brewery Limited is doing all it could to enhance large-scale production of Sorghum,” he explained, adding; “we are still importing Sorghum as indigenous farmers are unable to meet the needed supply of the company, despite the opportunities given to Sorghum farmers”.
Unisa Conteh, Communications Manager of SLBL urged the media to play their part in ensuring that Sierra Leoneans and young graduates see the need to embark on Sorghum farming. He said there are enormous benefits in growing Sorghum, especially for the youth and local agricultural organisations.
