The PAS Lamia midfielder beat Swedish based Norrkoping Sierra Leonean striker, Alhaji ‘Adriano’ Kamara to the prize, having won more votes by members of the public was announced by Sierra Leone’s Deputy Minister of Sports, Ishmeal Al-Sankoh Conteh in a well attended ceremony in Freetown.
The Deputy Minister said such event is very good as it a sign of motivation for other players around the world and that for a whole nation to award a good player was such a blessing for John and they should always be proud of their nation and work hard to bring glory to the country.
“As a ministry we are very much happy for Sierra Leone football.com and partners for their efforts in promoting football in their own way and the Ministry of Sports is always opened and ready to support any initiative as along is something that has to do with the development of sports. We are always e willing to support,” he assured.
According to Mohamed Fajah Barrie of Sierra Leone Football.com awarding the best player every year means a lot to them due to the fact that it serves as a springboard to motivate the players to work very hard and do their best for their various clubs and that such awards help them to build their confidence.
