Mr. Abdulai Daramy also admonished family members to stop the habit of refusing or rejecting their siblings who face deportation abroad.
It could be recalled that since 2009, a research had been done on deportation with the establishment of an office on No. 26 Regent Road, Freetown, to seek the interest of deportation victims nationwide.
The Chairman commended MEDICO International based in Germany for its continued support to their organization since 2011.
He called on the Government, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) and human rights organizations the world over to come to the aid of Sierra Leonean deportees as they have several concerns that should be addressed.
Mr. Daramy said the Government of President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma should ensure that the Home Office abroad is up to the task, adding that the Government should also create a legal framework that seeks the interest of human rights issues in the country.
He lamented that approximately 90% of Sierra Leoneans walking the streets of Freetown and other parts of the country with psychiatric problems are victims of deportation either forcefully and voluntarily.
He stressed that they were looking forward to seeing Government creating a legal framework that would protect the status of human rights, provide economic integration and facilitate social support and skills development in Sierra Leone.
