Addressing the audience, the Deputy Executive Director of SLRSA, Mr. Ibrahim Sannoh said the New Direction government has a responsibility to safeguard and protect its citizens. He said they were appointed by President Bio to fulfill that promise for better and secured road network and transport systems.
He maintained that the SLRSA cannot work in isolation; all the more reason why they are partnering with key stakeholders like the security forces to enforce the law by ensuring that road users strictly abide by the law.
He further explained that, the police and the Road Safety Corps are always on the streets to ensure road safety, but that road traffic crashes are still on the increase. “This ugly trend must be reversed as the life of every Sierra Leonean, despite his or her social status is equally important”, Mr. Sannoh told his audience.
He was happy to note that despite the challenges, the Authority surmounting the odds and has established thirteen offices across the country for the Authority to achieve its national mandate.
He assured his audience that the Authority will continue to engage the Traffic Police to jointly sensitize road users and the general public, especially commercial drivers on standard practice for road users.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Traffic Management and Road Safety, Sahr Senesie on his part said they have a duty to the citizens and the state. He admonished his colleagues not to compromise their integrity which is an important ingredient in upholding fundamental policing principles and “we are our brothers’ keepers,” he added.
