He was flown to Ghana two weeks ago from Freetown for further medical attention, but has been discharged from the Euracare Multi-Specialist Hospital in Accra, a day earlier than planned because of his progress.
This welcome news was confirmed by Ambassador Frances Anderson. She disclosed that Strasser is under observation at a residential facility with Ghanaian secret service agents protecting him. He is being cared for by nurses and physiotherapists who are at his disposal 24/7.
The former Sierra Leone military strongman is recovering from a surgery to his left leg, a condition that was difficult to deal with despite being admitted at three hospitals in Freetown namely 34 Military Hospital, Choithram’s and the Aspen Medical Hospital.
It was after the timely intervention of President Bio – who incidentally was Strasser’s Vice President during the NPRC military junta regime before he (Bio) overthrew him – that Strasser was flown out of the country to Ghana two weeks ago.
Latest reports say Strasser, who was unable to walk by himself, but wheel chair bound when he was in Freetown two weeks ago, is now able to walk with the aid of a Zimmer which he will eventually drop.
Strasser is reportedly expected to go back to the Euracare Multi-Specialist Hospital after two weeks when his condition will be reviewed before a determination is made for his return home.
The Euracare Multi-Specialist Hospital complex in Ghana was built by Israeli engineers at the whopping cost of 200 million US dollars. Â
