Her Honor, Judge Nancy Sammy of the Liberia Supreme Court has ordered the immediate arrest of the country’s Inspector General (IG) of Police Patrick Sudue for contempt of court.

The Writ from the Civil Law Court is predicated upon what the court termed as refusal of Police IG Sudue to appear before the Independent National Commission on Human Rights to provide accountability of the July 26, 2022 protest in front the US Embassy.

The INCHR is charged with the statutory mandate to protect and promote human rights in Liberia.

The violent July 26 protest witnessed the alleged brutality and torture of one member of the Students Unification Party (UL), Christopher Sivili.

The SUP member, according to reports sustained injuries and has been in critical condition since the incident.

The INCHR in its initial condemnation report, called on the public to assist the commission in gathering information regarding the incident.

Earlier Police arrest and charged those believed to be members of the Congress for Democratic Change Council of Patriots over their involvement captured on videotape.
