Suspected Donkey Thief in Court Again

According to the Particulars of Offence, the accused, Staff Sergeant Hassan Kamara reportedly stole the donkey at Jorpoh Farm at Waterloo and also caused malicious damage to two rooms and a parlor; property of the complainant, Samuel Enitor King.

Led in evidence by Police Sergeant Festina Newstead, the prosecution witness, Detective Inspector Isaac Williams testified that he was on duty on January 2nd when a transferred file was assigned to him for further investigation.

On arrival at the scene of crime at Jorpoh Farm together with a team of police officers, he continued to say it was observed that the hut built for the donkey was damaged and that the said donkey was nowhere to be seen.

He said the accused was then invited for questioning and statement obtained from him in Krio and recorded in English.

The accused person is on bail and represented by Lawyer L. M. Bayoh.

The matter comes up again on 3rd September 2018.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Santigie Bangura, on Friday 24 August this year convicted and sentenced five Sierra Leoneans to three months imprisonment each or pay a fine of one million Leones each.

The five accused person were found loitering at different places within the Freetown Judicial District in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone without valid reason.

They were represented by lawyer Musa Pious Hemor Sesay.
