The Ade Renner Thomas Moot Court competition ended over the weekend at the Fourah Bay College campus with Team Bankole Thompson winning. The Team comprises of Raymond Williams – LLB 3; Alpha Sowe – LLB 4; Nancy Brenda Junisa – LLB 2; Ben Massaquoi – LLB and Alpha Bah – LLB 3.
The Competition was held by the Law Society of Fourah Bay College as its maiden inter-class moot court competition.
The Department has produced battery of lawyers since its establishment but hardly do these lawyers have any knowledge on moot court during their days in the university.
The vacuum has created a major drawback and the lawyers graduate without having sound oratory skills.
The Competition was held in honour of Justice Ade Renner Thomas and every member of the Law Society was placed into four mooting blocks including the Bankole Thompson Block, Professor Joko Smart Block, Tuboku Metzger Block and Humu Hawa Tejan-Jalloh Block.
The court system in the faculty will help members of the Society to imbibe the spirit and culture of advocacy and it will further enhance the advocacy skills of students and train every learner in the law faculty to start developing the ability to discuss crucial national and international matters through the lens of the law.
The inter-class moot court competition will further expose students to do research work on critical matters.
