Thinking Pink Breast Cancer Foundation Sierra Leone has embarked on a free Breast Cancer screening and awareness raising campaign countrywide.

CEO and Founder of Thinking Pink Breast Cancer Foundation Sierra Leone, Cremelda Parkinson-Pratt said October every year is set aside to raise awareness on Breast Cancer.

She said as a Foundation in charge of Breast Cancer, they have embarked on massive awareness raising and free screening in order to help tackle Breast Cancer problems in the country.

She said Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign observed in October. The primary objective of this month-long campaign, she went on, is to raise awareness about Breast Cancer, promote early detection, support those affected by the disease and raise funds for research, prevention and treatment.

She said it serves as a reminder of the importance of regular breast examinations and mammograms to detect Breast Cancer at an early, adding that during this time, individuals, healthcare organisations and nonprofits organisations collaborate to raise awareness and promote Breast Cancer prevention and treatment.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month was established in the early 1980s to promote Breast Cancer awareness, early detection and support for individuals and families affected by the disease.

Since then, it has become a global movement that has contributed to increased awareness and improved outcomes for Breast Cancer patients.
