“Timothy Kabba is someone whom I learnt a lot from…” Chief Minister-designate, Dr. David Sengeh hails foreign minister-designate’s appointment

Chief Minister-designate, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has hailed the appointment of Ing. Timothy Musa Kabba as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation-designate by His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio in his new Cabinet.

Dr. Sengeh tweeted: “Tim is someone whom I learnt a lot from in Sierra Leone. In fact, he is a major character in my book Radical Inclusion from his time as Minister of Mines. He speaks about 8 languages, an engineer and more… bright future.”

Dr. Sengeh thanked President Bio for his confidence in appointing them as the Chief Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister for the Government of Sierra Leone. He assured that they will repay the country with their service and love.

Dr. Sengeh said: “Thank you, His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio for your confidence in appointing me as Chief Minister for the Government of Sierra Leone. I will repay you and the people of Sierra Leone with my service and love. My job is simple-to work with the people to deliver on our priorities and needs.”

A State House press statement states that it has pleased His Excellency the President to appoint Ing. Kabba as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation subject to parliamentary approval.

In 2020, prior to his appointment as Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, Ing. Kabba was Director-General of the Petroleum Directorate. He is an oil and gas engineer. Before joining the Petroleum Directorate, he was the project management consultant for Total E & P C LTD.

He also worked as a Drilling Engineer and a Reservoir Engineer at the LUKOIL Overseas Offshore Project.

As Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, he was responsible for the implementation of the Mines and Minerals Act 2009 working in close partnership with the National Minerals Agency.

Ing. Musa Timothy Kabba was also recently elected Vice President of the Association of African Diamond Producing Countries (ADPA) at the 8th Extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

The development came as a result of Sierra Leone’s strict compliance to the Kimberley Process Certification scheme for its diamonds and the general progressive reforms in its mining sector under Ing. Kabba’s watch.
